Ian has investigated the possibility of using HTL (Histogram Template Library) in order to replace HBOOK as instogramming package. This is a C++ class library that offers the histogramming features of HBOOK as well as a certain number of useful extensions, with an Object Oriented approach, such as:
The major innovation over the previous OO package (histOOgrams) are the suport of different kind of bins, the support of both persistent and transient (i.e. in-memory) histograms at runtime and the definition of an abstract histogram interface.- booking and filling of 1D, 2D and profile histos; - computation of statistics (mean and rms of an histo); - browsing of and accesing to characteristics of individual histos.
