Running HTL

Ian has investigated the possibility of using HTL (Histogram Template Library) in order to replace HBOOK as instogramming package. This is a C++ class library that offers the histogramming features of HBOOK as well as a certain number of useful extensions, with an Object Oriented approach, such as:

- booking and filling of 1D, 2D and profile histos;
- computation of statistics (mean and rms of an histo);
- browsing of and accesing to characteristics of individual histos.
The major innovation over the previous OO package (histOOgrams) are the suport of different kind of bins, the support of both persistent and transient (i.e. in-memory) histograms at runtime and the definition of an abstract histogram interface.
A short introduction to the HTL package and a tutorial to run few examples can be found here.
