Both of our CCD cameras were cobbled together out of webcams, the Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000. If you open one up (this voids the warranty!) you get bits like these. The CCD chip is mounted in the middle of the small circuit board. The one here is actually from an older quickcam no longer in use; otherwise we wouldn't let it sit out collecting dust like this.
