Royal Holloway
I'm a research assistant in the Particle Physics group at the Physics Department of Royal Holloway, University of London. I have organized the group's seminars together with Fabrizio Salvatore between 2003/04 and 2006/07, and I'm helping with the Particle Physics Masterclass since 2004. I'm also demonstrating in the PH2130 course (Mathematical Methods), taught by James Nicholls, during the 2005/06 Autumn Term. Also doing the discussion classes for course PH2910, taught by Antonella De Santo.

My work has been, since October 2003, on the ATLAS experiment, which will run on the LHC collider at CERN.

Used to work on the ZEUS experiment at DESY at Imperial College. My work there was on neutral-current deep inelastic scattering in the Structure Functions and Electroweak Physics (SFEW) group. Here's my old page in DESY and also a local version.

While at Imperial, I also helped a little in the construction of a prototype scintillating fiber tracker for the MICE experiment to test the principle of ionisation cooling, as a first stage to a future muon collider or neutrino factory.

Before that, I've done my degree and Masters at Coimbra University, Portugal. Here, I've done research on gaseous detectors using microstructures such as microstrip and microgap chambers (MSGC, MGC) and gas electron multipliers (GEM) at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas (LIP).
