Dr Tracey Berry's (nee Pratt) Research

Dr Tracey Berry is a lecturer at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Her field of research interest is searching for new physics, in particular extra dimensions at the highest energies possible. She pursued this at the CDF detector at Fermilab while completing her PhD at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, and as a PPARC PostDoctoral Fellow at the University of Liverpool. Following which she moved to the University of Royal Holloway, to begin searching for new physics using the ATLAS detector at the LHC, CERN.
Research History
CDF (Collider Detector at Fermilab), is one of the detectors at the Tevatron collider, in Fermilab, Illionois, USA. This collides protons and anti-protons at a centre-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. While working on this experiment Tracey performed searches in the dimuon, dielectron and diphoton channels, searching for evidence of new physics. The diphoton analysis (1fb-1) with the dielectron (819pb-1) has set the most stringent limits on the Randall-Sundrum Extra Dimensional model to date. (see Publications)
Present/Future
The LHC (Large Hadron Collider) is colliding protons together at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, which is over three times larger than that of the TeVatron, which was the previous highest energy detector in the world. This new accessible energy range, could lead to the discovery of new particles, such as Z' bosons or Gravitons.
